A chimney is exposed to weather above the roofline. Brickwork, mortar joints, pots and its junction with the roof each need consideration. Alliance offers repointing and rebuilding as well as pot replacement, height reduction and removal.

A CLOSER LOOK
Understanding the work.
Repointing or rebuilding
Repointing addresses deteriorated mortar joints between bricks. Rebuilding concerns the masonry itself where its condition warrants more extensive work. Weathered joints, damaged bricks and signs of movement need to be considered together rather than choosing a repair from appearance alone.
Pots and roof junctions
Chimney pots and their bedding sit in a particularly exposed position. The junction between the stack and the roof also needs attention when investigating nearby leaks. Mention damaged pots, staining near the chimney or previous leadwork repairs, without approaching loose materials yourself.
Reduction and removal
Reducing or removing a chimney changes more than the roof profile. Existing flues, fireplaces, structural support and shared or neighbouring structures may be relevant. Applicable building requirements and permissions need consideration before the scope of any removal is agreed.
WHEN TO GET IN TOUCH
Things worth discussing.
Eroded mortar joints or damaged chimney bricks
A damaged or visibly displaced chimney pot
Plans to reduce or remove an existing chimney
Observe from the ground only. Do not climb onto a roof or investigate loose materials at height.
YOUR ENQUIRY
Help us understand your property.
Tell us what you can see from the ground and whether the chimney is still in use. Mention any fireplace, stove or flue connected to it and the work you are considering.
Include your postcode and mobile number. Your email address is optional. Any work, access arrangements and costs need to be discussed before you agree to proceed.
Whether the chimney is in use, its structural support and any applicable permissions or building requirements need consideration before work is agreed. Do not assume removal is suitable for every property.
Does an unused chimney still need attention?
Yes, disuse does not prevent weathering of the exposed masonry or roof junction. Tell us whether the chimney is redundant and about any damp or visible damage; its future use matters when considering alterations.
Can chimney work affect a fireplace or stove?
It can. Any connected fireplace, stove or flue needs to be identified before work is planned. Roof-level repairs are not a substitute for appliance servicing or a flue safety check by an appropriately qualified specialist.
How much will the work cost?
There is no fixed price listed on this website. The scope of the work, materials, property and access can affect cost. Contact Alliance to discuss your specific enquiry and what a quotation would include.
Which areas do you cover?
Coventry, Leamington Spa, Rugby, Nuneaton, Warwick, Tamworth, Hinckley and surrounding areas. Share your postcode so your location can be discussed.
Can I discuss the work over the phone?
Yes. Call 07436 099 837 or the office on 02476 014574. For an active leak or a safety concern, call rather than relying on the website form; emergency attendance is not promised.
