Water can enter through more than the main roof covering. Tiles, ridges, verges, valleys and leadwork form different parts of the roof, and a visible damp patch may not show where a problem starts. Describe what you can see so the relevant repair work can be discussed.

A CLOSER LOOK
Understanding the work.
Tiles, ridges and roof edges
Slipped or broken tiles, deteriorating ridge bedding and worn verge mortar can leave exposed areas vulnerable to weather. Ridge, hip and verge repairs address different roof details; the appropriate approach depends on what has deteriorated and the condition of the surrounding covering.
Valleys and leadwork
Valleys channel rainwater between roof slopes. Leadwork helps protect junctions around chimneys, walls and other changes in the roof. A defect in either area can allow water to travel before it becomes visible indoors, so the position of a damp patch is useful information but not proof of the source.
Pitched and flat roof concerns
For a pitched roof, note visible tile damage or loose mortar from ground level. For a flat roof, mention ponding you already know about, split coverings or leaks around edges and outlets. Repeated leaks and earlier repairs are important context when discussing a local repair or more extensive work.
WHEN TO GET IN TOUCH
Things worth discussing.
Missing, slipped or visibly damaged tiles
Damp patches or leaks noticed during rainfall
Loose ridge mortar or damage around roof junctions
Observe from the ground only. Do not climb onto a roof or investigate loose materials at height.
YOUR ENQUIRY
Help us understand your property.
Explain where the issue appears, when it first started and whether it changes with the weather. Mention previous repairs and whether the roof is pitched or flat.
Include your postcode and mobile number. Your email address is optional. Any work, access arrangements and costs need to be discussed before you agree to proceed.
Yes. Valleys carry water where roof slopes meet, while leadwork helps weatherproof junctions such as walls and chimneys. Both can be relevant to a leak, but its cause needs assessment rather than a diagnosis from an indoor stain alone.
What information helps when reporting a leak?
Tell us the room affected, when the leak occurs and whether it follows heavy rain or wind. Describe any visible exterior damage from the ground and previous repairs. Never climb onto the roof to find the source.
Does loose mortar mean the whole roof needs replacing?
Not necessarily. Mortar at ridges, hips or verges can deteriorate separately from the main covering. The affected detail and neighbouring materials need assessment before the extent of work can be established.
How much will the work cost?
There is no fixed price listed on this website. The scope of the work, materials, property and access can affect cost. Contact Alliance to discuss your specific enquiry and what a quotation would include.
Which areas do you cover?
Coventry, Leamington Spa, Rugby, Nuneaton, Warwick, Tamworth, Hinckley and surrounding areas. Share your postcode so your location can be discussed.
Can I discuss the work over the phone?
Yes. Call 07436 099 837 or the office on 02476 014574. For an active leak or a safety concern, call rather than relying on the website form; emergency attendance is not promised.
